I have been intending to visit Gillespie Park and the London Ecology Centre for a ages, but could never quite figure out where it is.

So it was a pleasant surprise, while walking under the railway bridge on Seven Sister's Road, to glance up and see the mosaics marking the entrance.

Gillespie Park is a lovely place - I enjoyed an hour or so exploring the ponds and woods, and reading about the work they do at the Islington Ecology Centre.

There is more about Gillespie Park: here

a cuppa at Blighty Coffee

While in the area, I enjoyed a cup of tea at Blighty Coffee on Blackstock Road (£2). The large windows, make it a good place to watch the world go by.

Blighty is a community café. There is a garden, and it is home to The Clementine Club - a shared workspace for Finsbury Park.

A good acupuncturist

Feeling a bit run-down, I visited an acupuncturist at Seven Heavens Clinic, Blackstock Road. Matthew was a thoughtful therapist, and it was a calming and benificial experience.

Demise of The George Robey

On a slightly wistful note, I was sad to see the George Robey on Seven Sister's Road being demolished.

I spent many nights there back in the early 1980's. I can't remember much (!) but do know I saw Wilko Johnson there lots of times.

There is a good write-up about 'The Robey' and pics from a punk weekender at:
